Many people with cancer can already be treated successfully today. They benefit from the knowledge that researchers have gained from the disease over the past decades, often in painstaking and nerve-wracking work. Nevertheless, cancer remains a major challenge, the importance of which is likely to increase even further in the future: Because in an increasingly aging society, more and more people will develop cancer. This is another reason why we do not want to rest on our laurels, but join forces to ensure that fewer people suffer and die as a result of cancer – and that more people can be cured of cancer.
