Since 1991, the foundation Swiss Cancer Research has been investing donations in all areas of cancer research: basic research as well as clinical, epidemiological and psychosocial research. Particular attention is paid to supporting patient-oriented research, the results of which benefit patients as directly as possible. The Board of Trustees of the Swiss Cancer Research is responsible for the distribution of funds to researchers. In deciding which research projects to fund, it relies on the recommendations of the Scientific Committee, which reviews all applications according to clearly defined criteria.
Swiss Cancer Research is also part of the Swiss Association against Cancer, Oncosuisse, and in this role supports the development and implementation of measures to combat cancer in Switzerland. The goal of Oncosuisse and its network organization "Oncosuisse Forum" is to join forces to improve the situation of people affected by cancer, to ensure equity of access and high quality, and to be a point of contact for public policy.
